Women's League comprises at present over 30 women's associations, from large foundations, centers and associations to small creative groups, such as "Women's initiative" foundation, League of women writers, Gaya International women's center, Conversion and Women interregional non-governmental organization, Creativity Association, Moscow Center of Crafts, Lawyers' Union, International center, Association of Russian women-entrepreneurs etc.Women's League is a community of non-governmental organizations which are willing, with due respect to each other's independence, to carry on a dialog and to coordinate their efforts in finding solutions to vital issues of state and society focusing on the protection of the interests of women, children and families, 1 for the implementation of the principle of equal rights and equal opportunities;2 for women in all spheres of activity;3 for the organization of constructive collaboration with government structures, political parties, movements and other non-governmental associations;4 for the establishment of contacts with foreign and international organizations.Business partnership is the main form of interaction between the League's member organizations and their leaders.The League has five co-chairmen and a Coordination Board.One of the main tasks of the Confederation today is the support of socially significant programs.The League's objectives: mutual support and information exchange, realization of joint projects, joint expert assessment of draft laws and other state documents, participation in federal policy making related to women, children and families.Priorities: - participation in state social policy making; - participation in the formation of civil society and in the legal education activities; - preservation of traditional culture and development of society's spiritual potential; - protection of environment and people's health;Activities: - conferences, round tables, exhibitions, actions in support of various creative groups of women, children and youth; - support of projects and programs; - actions in support of unemployed women, organization of their retraining; - leadership schools;At present the League has created working centers and groups: - social policy; - information and publishing; - support and development of creativity and folk culture, small businesses and women's entrepreneurship; - international cooperation; - assistance to women under unemployment;New centers are being established: culture and leisure, and finance and economy.Women's League is open to women's non-governmental organizations and other non-governmental associations. Enterprises, institutions, research collectives, mass media, businesses can be collective members. Women's League is interested in cooperation and information exchange in and outside Russia. |
